Krusadai Island in Rameswaram is an uninhabited island located near Pamban-Rameshwaram Island, Ramanathapuram district. The Krusadai Island is under the control of the Gulf of Mannar Marine National Park, and this island is referred to as the ‘Biologist Paradise’ due to its rich biodiversity. The world’s first marine research center, built by the British Government, is on the Krusadai Island. In 2022, the Tamil Nadu government opened Krusadai Island to the public to promote tourism and educate people about its rich biodiversity.

Krusadai Island entry ticket price and timing
The entry ticket for Krusadai Island is Rs. 300 per person. The time is from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., except on all Tuesdays.
How to reach Krusadai Island
First, reach Kunthakal Beach, Rameshwaram, and get tickets from the community-based Eco Tourism office. Then, take a boat ride from the jetty point to Krusadai Island. If there are fewer than ten people, then the ticket fare for ten people is to be shared among them. During travel time, you can spot dolphins, sea cows, birds, coral rocks, etc. After 20 minutes of travel, you can reach the Krusadai island.
About Krusadai Island
At the entrance of Krusadai Island, the display board contains information on the birds and marine animals spotted there. The guide accompanies you throughout the journey and explains every detail about the herbs, birds, and marine animals.
The world’s first marine research center (1828) on Krusadai Island was made up of coral rocks, so the temperature remained cool inside the building. On Krusadai Island, you can find some preserved specimens, including dolphin bones, turtle shells, and more.
