Pondicherry University Distance education.
Pondicherry University Distance education has providing four postgraduate(PG), five MBA degrees, and two undergraduate(UG) programmes. These distance degrees are for all those who were unable to join regular and vocational education programmes in the affiliated colleges of the university. The objective is to provide to the needs of those who are unable to continue their higher education in formal/ on-campus ways.
Approval for 20-degree programmes.
The Directorate of Distance Education (DDE) at the Pondicherry University got approval for 20-degree programmes this year. The degrees include eight MBA degrees, eight UG degrees, and four PG degrees. Those degrees are approved and recognized by the AICTE, New Delhi, and the DEB, New Delhi
Eight MBA degrees are
- Marketing,
- Finance,
- Human Resource Management,
- International Business,
- General,
- Tourism,
- Operations & Supply Chain Management andÂ
- Hospital Management.
Eight UG degrees are
- BBA,
- B.Com.,
- BA in English,
- BA in Economics,
- BA in History,
- BA in Political Science,
- Sociology and
- Journalism & Mass Communication.
Four PG degrees are
1. M.Com. (Finance)
2. MA in English,
3. MA in Hindi and
4. MA in Sociology.
The admission usually commences for an academic year in June and for the calendar year in January. But, this year the admission got delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation and commenced on November 17. The last date to apply is 15.12.2021.
Online Admission
DDE website and online admission portal.
The Vice-Chancellor of Pondicherry University, Gurmeet Singh launched the DDE website and online admission portal in the presence of the Director, Registrar, Finance Officer, Dean CDC, DGM, and Branch Manager of Indian Bank, and all the staff of DDE.

The DDE has automized the full admission process so that people from any part of the country could submit their application forms and pay their fees online. The Computer Centre of Pondicherry University developed the DDE website. Whereas the Samarth team of Delhi University developed the online admissions portal.
Pondicherry University is the first in the nation to organize job fairs for supporting distance education pursuing students. And this year, the University is planning for the online job fair in December, Mr. Singh said. The DDE in its silver jubilee year, has plans to introduce many initiatives, he added.
